Writing things down

Tidying Up the Place (Pt. 2)

THE TAGS MAKE SENSE NOW.

Here's what I did:

  1. Export the whole blog as .csv so I could have all post titles (I remember what I wrote about, duh) and tags on two columns;
  2. Read all tags and take notes which ones are duplicated (e.g. "videogames", "videogame" and "games") and which are used in only one post;
  3. Read all titles and find a short amount of tags that could fit each, noting down each new tag as it appears. Consider merging different tags if they're rarely used and can be replaced by a more general one (this is why "art and crafts" was born instead of creating "design", "drawing", "art", "crafts"...);
  4. Find overlooked patterns in previous posts and consider if a new tag could help (e.g. "pics" for the few posts with pictures, "food" for every post that seems to talk about something else but ultimately spawned from food and cooking)
  5. Now that the complete tag list is there, review the old tags and replace them with the new ones.

I'm very happy with the results. I also tweaked the CSS a bit to make everything on here a tad more readable, but that's a Sisyphus's Ordeal I guess so I won't talk too much about line-height numbers.
