Writing things down

It's Never the Right Season

We lit the last fireworks of summer today. It was fun... but made me kinda sad. The sounds of the sparks meant that autumn had arrived.

Boku no Natsuyasumi 2 makes me melancholic about summer, again.

It's been colder for a while here where I live. I'm not good with lower temperatures nor the humidity1, so I await autumn and then winter with a bit of a defeated spirit. A lot of people argue that "you can dress warmer when it's cold", but they don't feel it in their bones like I do! And besides, you can't compare crazy hot global warming summer to cozy winter fantasy inside your home drinking hot cocoa. It's not fair! You must compare either two fantasies, or two apocalyptic scenarios!

Anyway, I wore the first long-sleeved shirt of the season today. It's a green checkered shirt, one I haven't worn lately because it's a bit too baggy on the shoulders and I don't like how it makes me look, but it's not as bad if I tuck it in my jeans. It was a bit cold, and then it became a bit warm. At least let me sweat consistently! Let me keep this at least until August is over!

I also dress much more easily in the summer, and I like more how I look. I'm more comfortable with less layers, but if I don't put on enough in autumn and forth I get too chilly to do anything. Also, there's so much more laundry to do... and it gets way longer to dry... no matter how hard I think about it, I just can't buddy buddy with autumn and winter.

Actually, there's just one thing I really like about the latter: snow. Unfortunately, summer and winter share something, in a way, that makes me a bit sad: I no longer have anyone to go stargazing with, and when it's cold enough I often have no one who wants to play in the snow with me. They're both things I used to do and of which I have fond memories of with people who are either far away, or whose memory has now become as blurry as the tail of a shooting star, or as snow flurry. Stuff that used to be a habit and at some point it slipped my mind, until I think about it and ask myself "when was it last time?".

Another summer is coming to an end, and this year as well I haven't gone looking for shooting stars at night. This winter I'd like to try and find someone to make a snowman with.

  1. Achy muscles aside, I've had a knee surgery years ago that I am reminded of every time it gets rainy.
