Writing things down

Any Title I Pick Might Attribute A Certain Meaning To This Post, So I Will Not Title It

I've never asked myself before if it's a common thing all around the world, but in Italy, each school year, kids buy a diary to write in. I don't think I've ever seen one outside of Italy, or maybe I just haven't looked for them now that I'm an adult, but they're a pretty big there. You've got diaries based on popular cartoons, TV shows, or even just brands liked by teenagers... it's a whole thing.

When I was 6, in my first year of elementary school, I asked for a Pokémon diary. I liked it a lot! They're meant to be something you write due homework in, but they usually double as some sort of school memory keeping. I mostly doodled in the blank pages, and had classmates write in it occasionally (or they just did it on their own). The year after, I erased all the writing in it with white-out so I could use it again, even if the weekdays didn't match exactly. I remember my mom was pretty upset with it and immediately bought me a new one. I don't remember what kind of diary it was, though, just that I was sad I couldn't use my old one still.

I wonder why some events stick with us for years.
