I Don't Get Not Being Creative

To be creative is to be human. It's part of our DNA. Every single person has the ability to have a creative idea. But that's not just about poetry, and language, and music and art. It's about science and technology, having an original idea.
— Guy Michelmore

I usually clean the house on Saturdays listening to the videos on my "Watch Later" list that I can follow without watching the screen, and Guy Michelmore's last video on creativity was a very pleasant one. I really like the guy (ha!), even though sometimes he just goes on and on and I'm always like, "Get to the point, Guy!", but that's part of his charm. He oozes playfulness and positivity in a way that screams "I'm doing it because I like it" more than "And you should do it too", which I greatly appreciate as someone who feels very strongly about a lot of things, other people's feelings included.

It's not much deeper than that. I can't imagine a life without creating or having a single idea, even if they suck. And even though I'm sure there are people who are equally repulsed at the thought of crafting something, indulging in a concept, putting themselves into something that's outside of themselves, but still theirs... that feels insanely wrong to me. Did they really never enjoy doing that ever since they were born? Didn't they also hold a crayon in their baby hands to color an ugly drawing outside of the lines, or write five words in a row that didn't make sense but were undoubtedly theirs?

How does one feel alive if not by following the urge to create?
